A leading Cumbrian hospitality firm has committed itself to inspiring the next generation of workers.
Hargreaves Enterprises, which runs The Cranleigh Boutique, The Fizzy Tarté, BAHA, the Lake View Garden Bar & Bornoisy in the Lake District, has been named as a cornerstone employer by the county’s local enterprise partnership’s Cumbria Careers Hub.
The role will see Hargreaves Enterprises give strategic support to clusters of secondary schools and colleges, investing time and resources working to inspire young people across the county.
The aim is to make sure youngsters have access to employers and gain vital work experience to help them make informed choices about their futures.
Other cornerstone employers include BAE Systems, Oxley Group and Lakeland Arts.
Stephen Hargreaves, owner and chief executive of Hargreaves Enterprises, said: “As a company who has been in the area for over 10 years, and employs more than 60 staff, with plans to reach over 100 employees this year, we are very excited about the opportunities and experiences we can showcase to the next generation through supporting the Cumbria Careers Hub as a cornerstone employer.
“After all, Cumbria has two World Heritage Sites, is a place of natural beauty and has some of the top hospitality venues in the country.
“It’s in amazing place to work – a gift – and should be regarded with the same level of prestige as London for those looking for a top level hospitality career.
“Not to mention the other leading industries the county is home to.
“This is one of many reasons we are so passionate about what we do and want to be a part of the Careers Hub programme. We can’t wait to get started.”
Cumbria Careers Hub, a partner project between Cumbria LEP and The Careers & Enterprise Company, launched in January 2019.
It supports 40 secondary schools across Cumbria.
