A family-owned business has revealed ambitious plans to make it a driving force in the region’s efforts to combat C02 emissions and recycle waste.
Brampton Skip Hire was founded in 1995 as a domestic skip hire business.
While this remains a core part of the business, the operation has grown rapidly and is now Cumbria’s largest environmental waste management company.
It now has a new name to reflect its evolution – North West Recycling – and the Brampton Skip Hire brand will be phased out gradually.
A new solid recovered fuel production facility is being built in collaboration with Waste Knot Energy, which will create 60 jobs.
It currently employs 100 people.
The company’s flagship 30-acre Rockcliffe HQ now delivers fully integrated waste processing capability on site, including collection, disposal, purpose-built recycling facility and a renewable fuel plant currently under construction.

“When the business moved into waste management in 1995, it was done with the clear vision of dealing with the non-recyclable element of waste in Cumbria.
“The decision to rebrand and our partnership with Waste Knot Energy form the next chapter in what we are doing to improve innovation in waste management, reduce Cumbria’s landfill burden and protect the local environment.
