A foodie family are reuniting to help a popular a Lake District venue grow.
Georgina and Pete King, formerly head chef and restaurant manager at the Lake Road Kitchen in Ambleside, are joining Jess and Will Manley at The Yan in Grasmere and will together run the award-winning bistro with beds.
Jess and Georgina are the daughters of owners Dave and Sally Keighley and with their husbands are planning to develop The Yan.
Dave and Sally are planning to retire. Georgina will work with Jess, while Pete, formerly head sommelier at Forest Side in Grasmere, will oversee the bar and drinks as well as helping with facilities management.
Jess said: “Georgina and Pete are at the top of their game in terms of their skillset and their work at Lake Road Kitchen has received national recognition, so to have them join The Yan would be hugely exciting anyway – the fact that they are family is just a dream come true. We can’t wait to work together and take everything we love about The Yan to an extraordinary level.”
Georgina said: “I’ve had six brilliant years at Lake Road Kitchen, working my way through the ranks and gaining not just culinary experience, but also experience in how the business is run and for that I’m incredibly grateful.
“We can’t wait to bring this experience to The Yan and to work alongside my sister and family. Everything that is so special about The Yan will remain as is, The Yan is already amazing, but looking forward, both myself and Pete are very excited to be part of and contribute to its future developments and growth.”
Georgina and Pete join The Yan later this month.
