A network created to back start-ups in Cumbria has helped create 23 new businesses in the county.
The Business and IP Centre Network was set up by the British Library to support entrepreneurs.
It has hubs in Carlisle and Barrow libraries where people can learn, network and access free and low-cost information and support in protecting and commercialising a business idea.
The Cumbrian centre has helped to create 18 jobs.
It has supported a range of entrepreneurs, of which 55 per cent were women, 19 per cent identified themselves as from a minority ethnic community, 17 per cent were disabled and 29 per cent were aged 35 and under.
Cumbria BIPC also has an Experts in Residence programme to provide additional advice and support to business owners, start-ups and entrepreneurs.
