A Lake District bistro with beds has built affordable and sustainable accommodation for its staff.
The Yan at Grasmere worked with Lune Valley Pods to build a new fully solar-powered unit on its site at the foot of the fells just outside Grasmere village, and an additional unit will be built by the end of this year.
The units will each sleep up to four people in two studio apartments for full-time members of the team.
Operations director Jess Manley, who runs The Yan with her chef husband Will Manley, sister Georgina King and brother-in-law and sommelier Pete King, said: “Living in this area is expensive and so we wanted to create something great to enable our team members to live affordably and comfortably on site and enjoy a brilliant work-life balance, making the most of our setting in the Lakes.”
