Events to help farmers and landowners navigate the latest changes in agricultural policy and planning will be held next month.
H&H will hold the rural roadshows in Carlisle and Kendal and the firm said it will help identify key challenges and offer advice and answers from a panel of experts representing H&H Land & Estates, H&H Insurance Brokers and Sage Wealth Management.
Free to attend, the H&H Rural Roadshows will start at 6pm and will include an opportunity for guests to put their own questions to the panel, followed by a pie and pea supper, and will take place on:
- Tuesday November 14 – The Auctioneer, Carlisle
- Wednesday November 15 – Carus Green Golf Club, Kendal
H&H land & estates director Mark Barrow said: “We’re living through a time of unprecedented change in the rural economy.
“Farmers and landowners and many other related rural businesses are facing major challenges on every front, from cost inflation to reducing BPS payments.
“We know from our experience supporting our clients how difficult it is to understand these complicated issues and the decisions that need to be made to overcome them.”
Tim Sedgewick, of H&H Land & Estates, said: “We will explain the Sustainable Farming Incentive and the other initiatives in plain English.
“Our environmental specialists will demystify the jargon and show farmers and landowners how their land can fit into these schemes for maximum benefit both financially and environmentally.”
H&H Insurance Brokers director, Corinne Cooper will focus on the key issue of underinsurance.
She said: “There is a tendency in farming to underinsure, and the increase in the occurrence of claims for fire and storm damage over the last few years has seen a big rise in uninsured losses. We will explain the importance of accurate valuations to avoid underinsurance and safeguard your assets. We’ll also explore the minefield of liability and help you understand and mitigate potential risks.”
Financial Planners from Sage Wealth Management will outline the key issues facing farmers and landowners in their personal financial planning, including retirement planning, succession planning, strategies for capital preservation against inflation, and building financial safety nets for both employees and the self-employed for whatever the future holds.
Mr Barrow added: “Our businesses are deeply embedded in the rural economy, and our success lies in the success of the farmers and landowners and rural businesses we serve. We’re looking forward to seeing many new and familiar faces in our travels around the North, and I hope we will be able to help give every rural business the advice they need to be fit for the future.”
