A leadership and management skills bootcamp for people working in Cumbria’s tourism sector will begin from Monday 22nd January 2024 at the University of Cumbria’s Ambleside campus.
Part-subsidised by the Department for Education via Cumbria LEP, the course is aimed at people working in the local visitor economy who are keen to learn new skills and progress their career in hospitality and the visitor economy supply chain.
An online information event takes place on Thursday 7th December to share more details of the course and for people to meet the tutors, which will be delivered one day per week over 10 weeks.
Sarah Allison, CPD and industry training manager from the University’s Institute of Business, Industry and Leadership said: “This bootcamp has been developed to address the skills gap in the local visitor economy.
“Skills Bootcamps are an excellent way for businesses to access high quality learning and development opportunities for their teams.
“The courses aim to equip participants with new skills and knowledge which supports career development.
“It’s an ideal way for employers to show commitment to staff through investing in their development, which helps with staff retention and recruitment.”
The course is subsidised by the Department for Education for eligible applicants.
The course will begin with an introduction to the business environment in Cumbria’s visitor economy and then develop knowledge and skills through practical exercises in a supportive learning environment.
