A Carlisle engineering firm is expanding into Manchester.
Peacock Precision Services operates throughout the country across sectors including highways, housing, public sector, retail and other industries.
It is set to open a new office in the heart of Manchester as it continues its growth.
Managing Director Kieron Peacock, who established the business in 2018, is passionate about his business success translating into career opportunities for young people.
Kieron is full of praise for the way one of his youngest employees, trainee engineer Alex Nicholson, 17, has grasped his opportunity, while working closely with Peacock’s engineering manager Grant Braddock.
Kieron said: “Just six months ago Alex had only just left school and he’s already doing an amazing job and constantly pushing himself to learn more.
“From helping set out on a new performance area in Carlisle city centre to diving into CAD work in the office, he’s taken everything in his stride.
“His work ethic and attitude are brilliant which is exactly what we look for in our recruitment and which will stand him in good stead for building a successful career.
“As an employer of an expanding business it’s great to be able to provide these opportunities for young people.
“It’s always a team effort and it makes me proud that as a business we are playing our part in inspiring and developing the next generation of construction professionals.”
Alex said: “Peacock Precision Services has a great team who encourage me to learn new skills, offering support and advice to improve my engineering capabilities and helping me to build my confidence.”
Alex highlights the mentoring he has had from Kieron and engineering manager Grant. “They have shown great belief in me as a trainee, closely monitoring my progression and support me to develop my career.”
Alex is set to attend a week-long CAD course at the University of Lancaster and in September he will start his NVQ and HNC qualifications on day release at college in Durham.
Peacock Precision has worked on major UK highways projects: the M6, A1, and Carlisle Southern Link Road; housing projects in Manchester and Newcastle; a retail development in Leeds; and infrastructure projects from Oxford to York.
Specialists in civil engineering, construction and measurement, the business has completed more than 1,000 jobs in its first seven years.
