Key appointment for H&H Land and Estates

A new residential lettings manager has been appointed at H&H Land and Estates.

Pauline Carrera-Silva joins the firm with 20 years of experience in lettings management.

Based at the company’s Borderway office in Carlisle, she will take responsibility for the management and development of the H&H Land and Estates lettings team and support the directors in identifying opportunities for business growth and expansion.

Alongside her role as lettings manager, she will also represent the professional body Propertymark, as the regional executive for Cumbria and Lancashire.

Pauline said: “It has always been my aim to deliver the best possible lettings management service to both landlords and tenants. That’s something I know I can take to a new level with such a progressive company as H&H Land & Estates, and I’m looking forward very much to working with the team here to help achieve the highest standards of professional service for all our clients.”

Mark Johnson, managing director at H&H Land & Estates said: “Pauline is joining us at a very exciting time for the company and we’re delighted to have her experience and enthusiasm to add a new dimension to a very important part of our property services portfolio.”

Cumbrian entrepreneur recognised in national competition

An entrepreneur from Cumbria has been named as one of the top three finalists in a national competition.

Alison Magee-Barker captured the attention of industry experts at the TiE Global North Competition by presenting her ImmersiV XP virtual reality training experience for the hospitality industry, created by her company, AJ Lakes Training Academy Ltd.

The TiE Global North Competition celebrates entrepreneurial brilliance, connecting emerging business leaders with established mentors and supporting transformative ideas to take flight.

Windermere-based AJ Lakes Training Academy Ltd is a hospitality consultancy, and Alison has helped dozens of businesses across the Lake District.

The virtual reality tool she has created aims to immerse staff in real-life scenarios so they can practice handling situations that they are likely to encounter on the job.

These include handling guest complaints, managing high-pressure situations, or providing exceptional service in different cultural contexts.

Alison said: “Presenting my idea to a panel of distinguished judges was an incredible privilege that I couldn’t pass up.”

“Being recognised as one of the top three finalists is a privilege and just an incredibly humbling experience. It reaffirms my belief in the potential of my idea and energises me to continue pushing boundaries.”
