
Two apprentices have joined a Carlisle accountants.
SeavorChartered has welcomed Karis Abbott and Ellie Wilson as accounts assistant apprentices after completing their Level 3 Diploma in Business at Carlisle College.
Both are now working towards the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification and attend Carlisle College one day a week as part of their training.
Karis said the role has opened her eyes to the human side of the profession. She said: “You don’t realise the impact it has on people’s lives. It’s not just people’s money, it’s everything that goes with it. You really are helping people.”
Ellie said the variety of the role has made the job more engaging than she expected.
She added: “Every day is different. I’m learning new things all the time and everyone is so helpful. I can ask anyone anything and they always take the time to support me.”
Managing director Graeme Seavor said: “Being based in Cumbria, we see it as part of our responsibility to train and offer opportunities to local people.
“Apprenticeships give young people the chance to start their careers in a supportive environment, whilst also helping us develop the next generation of professionals.”
