[L]angdale Chase Hotel, Windermere, is celebrating after being awarded two prestigious industry awards – a four star AA rating and two AA Rosettes.

It is a significant achievement for the Windermere hotel that was acquired by Daniel Thwaites less than six months ago.

The AA carried out an unannounced overnight stay and was impressed with the high standards found. The inspection focused on six key areas – cleanliness, service, food, bedrooms, bathrooms and hospitality.

Chris Hill, Thwaites Hotels Operations Director, said: “This is fantastic news and testament to everyone who works at the hotel.

“Langdale Chase is a fantastic hotel in a fabulous location and over the past few months we’ve just kept on improving the standards that already existed.

“I’m delighted that effort has been acknowledged with the award four stars, along with two rosettes for the restaurant.

“We already have six four star hotels and our ambition was to get Langdale to the same grading but we never expected to do it so quickly – that really is down to the dedication of the team there and their attention to detail.”

The hotel was originally built in 1895, and boasts 29-en-suite guest bedrooms, an eight bedroom lake house, boat house and two jetties. Its stunning location on the shore of Windermere, set in six acres of landscaped gardens with mountain and fell views, helped it secure the title of Best View in Britain and its location is widely acknowledged as one of the finest in the UK.

Thwaites, the current AA Hotel Group of the Year winner, acquired Langdale Chase in April. Since then upgrades have been made to beds, quality broadband has been introduced and staff have access to the company’s training and benefits opportunities.

A new kitchen team has also been established, led by Head Chef Dan Hopkins.

They have introduced a new menu and the award of 2 rosettes – which is given to excellent restaurants with obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients – is fabulous news for the team.

Chris Hill added: “We really want to put the restaurant at Langdale Chase on the map and the team have certainly started to do that. We’re really thrilled with the 2 rosette award.”
