Rising Star Apprentice – Darren Degraff

[T]SP Engineering has been shortlisted in the Manufacturing Champions Awards 2017 for the second year running.

Darren Degraff an assistant planner with TSP Engineering has been shortlisted as a contender in the Rising Star category which celebrates the apprentice, graduate or manager who has made the most impressive start to their manufacturing career.  Darren started his career as an apprentice pipefitter and following completion of his apprenticeship, secured a permanent position, thereafter applying to become an assistant planner undertaking a further project management apprenticeship in our contracts office. Darren was nominated and has been recognised for his work, enthusiasm and commitment to improving utilisation figures across the Workington factory.

John Coughlan, Director and Chief Operating Officer said, “This is the second year running that we have a contender in the Rising Star category, which was won last year by TSP Engineering’s Hannah Ridley. It is a great honour for Darren, and for TSP Engineering, to be recognised again at a national level alongside many other prominent companies. We wish Darren the best of luck.”

Chris Beck, Editor of Manufacturing Management magazine, creators of the event said, ‘This year saw the highest quality entries we have ever seen, and our judges were incredibly impressed with the standard of all the shortlisted companies, teams and individuals – being named on the shortlist is no mean feat, and everyone should be very proud to have got this far’.

The Manufacturing Champions Awards recognise UK companies and individuals who are demonstrating excellence in various aspects of manufacturing, in terms of skills, ethos and team, and aim to shine a light on the men and women whose pride and professionalism helps British factories take on the world.

The winners will be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony hosted by TV presenter and broadcaster Steph McGovern at The Midland Hotel, Manchester on 7 December 2017.
