[C]aterite Food and Wineservice Ltd. presented two cheques to MacMillan and West House on 26th of October to support their work in helping people with cancer and learning difficulties.

Caterite held a Charity Golf Day on 28th of September and raised £3,980 in total for the day. As the chosen charities, MacMillan and West House received an equal split of the money which is £1,990.

Tariq Malik, Foodservice Sales Manager of Caterite presented the cheques and commented: “The Charity Golf Day is an important event to us as a company because it provides a valuable opportunity for customers and suppliers to gather together and have fun for a good cause. We chose MacMillan because one of our beloved and long-serving colleagues Paul Winder was diagnosed of cancer earlier this year and MacMillan provided a lot of care and support to Paul and his family during his last days and we really appreciate that. We also have a long-lasting relationship with West House dating back to 2004 and are always impressed by the positive impact they had on the disadvantaged and local community.

“We do the Charity Golf Day every year and this is the 15th year. It’s also the most successful year we had so far in terms of the amount of money raised and the number of customers involved. As a local company, we are always conscious of our responsibility towards our home county and are glad to do whatever we can to give back to the community.”

John Wilkinson, representative from MacMillan said: “We are really grateful for Caterite’s kind donation and all the money we received allows us to provide more practical, medical and financial support for people diagnosed with cancer which could be me or you. I have been fund-raising for MacMillan for over thirty years and I truly feel Cumbrians are the kindest and most generous bunch of people in the world.”
