A national logistics firm has opened a new Cumbrian base, creating 18 jobs.
Magnum Logistics has opened its North West operation at Sandysyke in Carlisle.
The logistics, warehousing and distribution businesses said it planned further growth in the area.
It said the move represented a significant expansion for the Essex-based company, which operates its primary site at DP World London Gateway, one of the UK’s most advanced and strategically important container ports.
It said the new Carlisle base is designed to give businesses across the CA postcode region direct access to that global infrastructure – combining local, personal service with national and international logistics capability.
Chris Gilmore, managing director of Magnum Logistics, said: “At Magnum, we’ve always believed that great logistics is built on personal service – knowing your customers, understanding their business and being genuinely invested in getting it right.
“That doesn’t change whether you’re in Essex or Cumbria. I know the area around Carlisle well so when the opportunity came to open in the North West, the chance to create jobs locally while connecting the region directly to our global network was simply too good to miss.
“We’re here to serve local businesses – and to give them access to a world-class logistics operation right on their doorstep.”
