Benson Accountants is continuing its expansion in Scotland.

It comes after the firm opened an office in Perth last year, as demand increased for its services across Scotland.

Initially led by Euan McLeod, the office has supported existing Scottish clients while drawing on the wider expertise of the firm to provide specialist business and tax advisory services.

In recent months, the Perth office has developed further with the addition of experienced accountants Elaine Ewing and Sandra Guthrie.

Elaine, founder of Perthshire chartered accountancy firm Amber Scott, joined Benson Accountants following the merger of the two businesses earlier this year.

She brings more than 30 years’ experience advising owner-managed businesses across sectors including property, construction, retail and service industries.

Amber Scott clients will continue to work closely with Elaine while also benefiting from the wider expertise, specialist support and additional resources available through Benson Accountants.

Speaking about the move, Elaine said: “I am delighted to have joined a firm that shares the same commitment to client service that Amber Scott clients have come to expect.

“Working alongside the wider Benson team also gives us the opportunity to expand our presence across Scotland and support even more businesses as they grow and develop.”

Sandra Guthrie also joined the Perth office earlier this year as a Client Manager after 13 years with Azets in Perth. Having grown up on a family farm north of Perth, Sandra brings both strong commercial experience and specialist rural sector knowledge to the business.

Sandra said: “I was excited by the opportunity to join Benson Accountants and, since coming on board, it has been great to see how focused the business is on client relationships and delivering proactive advice.

“Growing up in a family business environment has given me a real appreciation of the importance of trusted advisers, and that culture is something that clearly runs throughout the firm.”

The firm added that its aim is to build a long-term presence in Perthshire and across Scotland by combining local knowledge and relationships with the wider expertise of the Benson Accountants team.

Paul Benson added: “We have built a strong team across the practice and having Elaine and Sandra join us in Perth adds further experience, energy and ambition to the business.

“Their local knowledge and professional expertise will help us continue to strengthen our presence in Scotland and further develop the service we provide to clients across a range of sectors.”

Alongside the growth of the Perth office, Benson Accountants has also been increasing its involvement within the local business and rural community through support for events including the Howe 7s and sponsorship of the upcoming RSABI event at St Johnstone Football Club in June.

The team will also return to the Perth Show this year following a successful presence at the event in 2025.

Founded in 2014 by Paul Benson, the Cumbria-based accountancy and business advisory firm has grown to a team of more than 40.

It now supports clients across a wide range of sectors including property, construction, retail, rural business and professional services.

The firm has built its reputation on helping owner-managed businesses grow, protect and pass on their wealth through proactive business and tax advice.
