South Lakes law firm highly commended for workplace wellbeing

A South Lakeland law firm has been highly commended for its workplace wellbeing at a national awards ceremony.

Milne Moser Solicitors, which has offices in Kendal and Milnthorpe, was recognised at the Modern Law Private Client Awards 2026.

The South Lakeland firm was commended for a comprehensive workplace wellbeing programme designed around listening to employees, managing workloads responsibly and providing practical and therapeutic support for its 30-plus strong team.

The firm provides wellbeing sessions covering cardiovascular health, nutrition, mental health, menopause, stress management and yoga.

Managers have received mental health awareness and supportive leadership training to help them recognise signs of stress and burnout and respond appropriately.

Earlier this year, Milne Moser opened a dedicated Wellbeing Room providing a calm and quiet space for monthly massage sessions, counselling and other therapies. This has been very successful and new therapies are planned in the future.

Annual leave can be taken in hourly increments, which is unusual for the legal sector. This policy was developed to provide greater flexibility when ‘life happens’, and is particularly helpful for parents, carers and employees who may need time away from work without taking a full or half day of leave.

Milne Moser said the impact of its approach was reflected in both employee retention and client feedback. Its 2025 client feedback survey also recorded a score of 4.95 out of 5 for the friendliness and sensitivity of its solicitors, with 100% of respondents saying they would recommend the firm.

Justine Allen, managing partner at Milne Moser Solicitors, said: “This recognition means a huge amount to us because we work hard to support the wellbeing of our team and make a real difference where we can.

“Our people work in a very demanding sector, and our aim is to help them to achieve their full potential, while maintaining happy and healthy lives outside of work.

“That means providing meaningful benefits and keeping wellbeing at the forefront of our business decisions. To have this approach acknowledged at a national level, alongside firms with significantly greater resources, is something we are all genuinely proud of.”

The Modern Law Private Client Awards celebrate excellence across the private client legal sector, including wills, probate, tax, trusts and estate planning.
