A Cumbrian-based global expert in electrical safety and resilience has expanded its specialist team to drive its ambition to become a leading provider of industrial Uninterruptible Power Supplies.
Bender UK, which operates from Low Mill Business Park in Ulverston, will celebrate 30 years in business this year, while its parent company marks 80 years of global engineering expertise.
With a growing team of over 140 employees in Cumbria, Belfast and Cambridgeshire, Bender UK, which has an established market presence in the rail, marine, oil and gas, and healthcare sectors, is extending its focus into manufacturing, energy and infrastructure.
The move reflects rising demand for resilient power solutions in industrial settings.
Gareth Brunton, managing director of Bender UK, said: “Cumbria’s industrial landscape is defined by world-class engineering capability, particularly within high-consequence environments, where innovation and a relentless focus on delivery underpin performance.
“These organisations depend on resilient electrical infrastructure to maintain safe, continuous and efficient operations.
“Despite this, many continue to operate with ageing equipment and limited – or in some cases no – contingency in place should systems fail.
“As demands on critical infrastructure increase, the need for robust electrical systems, supported by Uninterruptible Power Supplies that safeguard continuity of service, has become more important than ever.”
Three new members of the Bender UK team – Jay Harwood, Peter Boyle and Jack Harrison – will help deliver and strengthen its UPS offering to industry.
Jay brings more than two decades of experience in UPS design, specification, build and maintenance, while Peter and Jack are industrial engineers with broad experience across industrial sectors and expertise in UPS solutions.
Jay is supporting the development of the UPS commercial function, while Peter and Jack are working directly with industry to identify and solve power supply challenges.
This expansion is supported by continued investment in technical expertise and regional infrastructure, alongside a network of engineers, technical specialists and aftercare personnel based in Cumbria and backed by a wider UK team.
Together, they support the full lifecycle of power systems, from design and specification through to implementation, optimisation and ongoing maintenance.
This approach brings proven reliability from healthcare into industrial settings, where minimising downtime and operational risk remains essential.
Gareth added: “We’re building on a strong foundation, with an experienced engineering team and growing capability to support industrial customers properly, not only at the point of supply, but throughout the lifecycle of their assets. We also have further plans for growth, which will be revealed later this year.”
“Our aim is straightforward: to become the go-to UPS partner in Cumbria and nationally by delivering reliable solutions and long-term support.”
