Richard Rankin, chief executive of H&H Group plc, is the latest confirmed panellist for Conference Cumbria 2026.

Taking place on Thursday October 1 at the Pencil Factory in Keswick, the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce organised Conference Cumbria will bring together hundreds of business leaders, entrepreneurs and decision-makers from across the region for a day of inspiring keynote speakers, thought-provoking discussions and meaningful networking opportunities.

Richard has served as CEO of H&H Group plc since 2018, leading the UK’s largest livestock marketing business and diversified rural services group.

Joining the organisation as an outsider to the agricultural sector after a successful 20-year career in corporate finance with Deloitte and Armstrong Watson, Richard has used his fresh perspective to help drive transformational growth and long-term success.

The announcement is another exciting addition to Conference Cumbria 2026, which this year carries the theme Be Bold. Be Courageous.

Under Richard’s leadership, H&H Group has delivered four consecutive years of record results, increased turnover by 73% and significantly strengthened its financial position, while continuing to invest in its people, infrastructure and future talent.

Initiatives such as the Future Leaders Programme and Farmstock Futures demonstrate his commitment to developing the next generation of business and industry leaders.

Richard’s willingness to challenge convention and embrace a different perspective reflects the spirit of this year’s conference, showing how bold leadership and strategic thinking can unlock sustainable growth and create lasting impact.

Lesley Robinson, head of business growth & support at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Richard to the Conference Cumbria 2026 expert panel.

“His impressive track record of leading transformational change, combined with his deep commitment to developing future talent, makes him an invaluable addition to this year’s programme.

“Richard’s experience demonstrates that sometimes the greatest opportunities come from looking at challenges through a fresh lens, and we’re looking forward to hearing his insights on leadership, resilience and driving long-term success.”

Mr Rankin added: “I’m looking forward to being part of this year’s Conference Cumbria, particularly given its focus on bold, courageous leadership at a time when I believe it really matters.

“Cumbria’s full of opportunity if you’re prepared to think differently. Being bold isn’t about just making noise – it’s about making clear decisions and backing them, consistently and over time.”

Originally from the North East, Richard has called Cumbria home since 2002 and has made a significant contribution to the county’s business community.

Alongside serving for a decade on the board of Cumbria Tourism, championing Nourish Cumbria and now acting as a director of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, he is also a GB Age Group triathlete and multiple Ironman finisher.

Conference Cumbria has grown significantly over recent years and now attracts delegates from across Cumbria and beyond, with ambitions to welcome up to 350 attendees in 2026.

This year’s event will feature headline speaker Sir Clive Woodward alongside a growing programme of inspiring speakers, panel discussions and networking opportunities designed to support business growth, leadership and innovation.

Recent speaker announcements have also included Lou Kneath, Sara Murray, Steve Randles and Maria Whitehead MBE, further strengthening what promises to be one of the county’s most inspiring business events.

A limited number of sponsorship opportunities and tickets remain available for businesses looking to align themselves with one of the region’s most prominent business events.

Businesses interested in attending or getting involved can find out more and book online via the Conference Cumbria 2026 booking page.
