Fast-growing Cumbrian firm takes on 14 new staff

A fast-growing Cumbrian-headquartered firm has taken on 14 new staff.

Delkia, which has its head office at Westlakes Science Park, near Whitehaven, said due to a large volume of contract wins, it has taken on the workers to help it expand.

The firm is a specialist engineering and technology company for safety-related and mission-critical systems in aerospace, clean energy, and maritime sectors.

Kurt Canfield, chief executive, said: “Delkia has enjoyed massive success in winning new contracts across aerospace, clean energy, and maritime sectors in the early part of 2024, leading to the creation of many new jobs across the UK.

“The company is going from strength to strength as we move towards our vision to be the UK’s leading engineering and technology partner for safety-related and mission-critical systems.”

Delkia Aerospace welcomes three new experienced members of staff: John Brindle – senior avionics systems engineer, John Green – senior systems design engineer, flight systems, and Lyndon Herbert – senior avionics equipment engineer.

Maritime sector hires include Tim Moore – programme engineering manager; Peter Brown – deputy programme engineering manager; Paul Weaver – design engineer, and Josh Myers – business and technical administrator.

The team has been further strengthened by maritime project manager Joe Pruden.

Support roles have also been augmented with a new information security engineer, Curtis Dowdle; tendering manger Laura Connor and, to support further recruitment, two new talent acquisition specialists Gareth Sharp and Victoria Armstrong.

Delkia has also invested in future development with two new research, technology and innovation engineers joining the R&D team.

Alasdair Regan, who has a PhD in electrical and electronic engineering and is working on the command and control of remote systems and Paul Broadley, who holds a PhD in aerospace engineering and is working on air systems.

The company also has a base in Egremont and an office in Preston.
