[V]isit Britain and Lake District China Forum complete the speaker line-up for the global tourism conference coming to Cumbria next month.

Set to shine a light on the Lake District, the Journey To conference will be welcoming travel experts to the shores of Windermere on 19 April to discuss emerging travel trends.

With a focus on attracting international visitors to the UK, representatives from Visit Britain and the Lake District China Form were the final speakers confirmed to join the line-up for the day-long conference.

Anthony Pickles, Head of Tourism Affairs at Visit Britain and Visit England and James Lester, Digital Marketing Manager for the Lake District China Forum and founder of The Chinabuzz Project are joining Jen Cormack from Windermere Lake Cruises, Justin Reid from Trip Advisor and travel journalist Simon Calder as the confirmed speakers for the event.

The line up of speakers will offer an insight on how the UK is being promoting to overseas visitors, with examples of how tapping into destination culture and forming key collaboration can provide rich travel experiences that will also drive business growth.

Journey To host and Cumbria-based digital agency, A Digital, are bringing global-interest topics, speakers and attendees out of the UK capital in a first-of-its-kind event to be hosted in the Lake District; the UK’s newest UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A Digital director, Andrew Armitage said: “We’re thrilled to announce our final two speakers for Journey To and really looking forward to welcoming attendees to this beautiful part of the world next month. There’s no reason why global-scale tourism conferences shouldn’t be hosted in the Lake District, it’s one of the most visited regions in the UK, and the calibre of speakers really reflects that, so I hope this will be the sign of things to come with more conferences of this scale being hosted here.”

Attendees to the conference will spend the day at the newly refurbished Low Wood Bay Hotel, which will be in the closing stages of a a £19m refurbishment, and will enjoy an evening cruise on Lake Windermere to close proceedings.
