A free event offering practical advice to commercial property landlords is taking place in Carlisle in January.

Landlord Rights: What You Need to Know About Your Commercial Property will feature an expert panel from Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors and Dodd & Co offering advice on everything from drafting contracts to dealing with defaulting tenants.

The breakfast event takes place on Thursday, January 16 at The Auctioneer on Rosehill Industrial Estate from 8am to 10.30am and includes networking and breakfast butties.

Rob Winder, a senior associate at Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors who specialises in property disputes, says the event will provide a valuable resource for landlords looking to stay ahead of potential pitfalls and ensure they are running their commercial property businesses as effectively as possible.

“We’ve brought together an expert panel in commercial property and dispute resolution to address some of the issues which landlords may face as part and parcel of renting out commercial property,” he said.

“With an increasingly challenging market, it has never been more important to get the right advice to support your business now and in the future.”

Along with Rob, the panel includes three other members of the Cartmell Shepherd team including director Jonathan Carroll; senior associate solicitor Stephanie Johnson; and debt recovery manager, Carly Davies. They will be joined by guest speaker Jonathan Ridley, a tax partner at accountants Dodd & Co.

The event will be chaired by James Higgins, of Cumbria-based PR and marketing firm 32West, who will lead an audience question-and-answer session as part of the event.

Rob added: “Our aim is to create an event which provides some really useful, practical advice to help landlords make informed decisions.”

The free event is organised by Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors which operates across Cumbria, Northumberland and nationally and has offices in Rosehill Carlisle, Carlisle city centre, Brampton, Hexham, Haltwhistle, Penrith and Cockermouth.
