[I]n its first six months, the team at Burnetts has prepared and submitted more than 40 planning applications and of those that have been through the planning process, all have been given the go-ahead. Although a handful was initially refused, all were later approved on appeal.

The full-service planning team was formed in 2016 following Burnetts’ acquisition of Bruce Armstrong Payne Planning Consultants and the recruitment of senior planning consultant Daniel Addis from Eden District Council to work alongside Bruce Armstrong Payne.

Daniel, a Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute said, “The applications to date have been a mix of commercial and residential and have been submitted throughout Cumbria and further afield. We’re doing very well to be seeing 100% success with this number of applications.”

Burnetts’ new planning team was set up to enable the firm to offer clients a totally seamless property service and to help minimise the cost and delay which the planning process can sometimes bring to developments.

Daniel added “As a team we have a wealth of experience in planning and the planning process. Using this experience we guide applications through the process, addressing the key issues and presenting applications in the most positive way. Planning policy and government guidance are constantly changing and part of our role is to keep abreast of these changes and advise our clients accordingly.”

The team also includes two specialist planning solicitors Doug Claxton and Robbie Mather who play a key role advising on the legal aspects of the planning process. Doug is the only lawyer in Cumbria with membership of Solicitors Regulation Authority’s select Planning Law Accreditation Scheme and Robbie is the only property lawyer in the County to be recognised by Chambers and Partners, a prestigious national guide to law firms.

Daniel is hosting a free planning surgery in Penrith on 11th May. To book an appointment on the surgery, contact Dan McAulay on 01768 800855, email [email protected] or visit www.burnetts.co.uk/events.
