Booths Wines Win Top Accolades from International Wine and Spirit Competition

Family owned, independent food and wine retailer Booths, have won 5 prestigious medals in the International Wine and Spirit Competition, one of the world’s finest and most meticulously judged wine competitions.

Booths, who recently won Supermarket of the Year at The People’s Choice Wine Awards, are renowned for sourcing the very best of local and global foods and their wine selection is no exception.  Booths has also been shortlisted for Decanter Wine Supermarket of the Year for the 4th consecutive year, Booths were runner up in 2019 and won the competition in 2017.

Wine lovers not lucky enough to live near a Booths can buy the Booths Brand award-winning wines from Amazon Fresh, offering a national market for the well-chosen wines.

Booths Wine buyer, Victoria Anderson said: “Booths has been importing wine since 1870 and our Booths brand wines reflect this special part of our heritage, so we’re thrilled to have been recognised by such a revered competition.  Our range offers our customers a selection of world class wines from renowned producers and we work closely with our suppliers to develop the blends that compete with some of the best wines in world.”

Booths won a Gold medal for their Booths Sauternes 2017 (£14 for 37.5cl) described by judges as “Beguiling and utterly delicious, with well-defined aromas of canned pineapple, greengage and bruised apple. An excellent example of its type.”

The Booths Gran Norte Rioja Reserva 2015 (£13.50) also won Gold, judges praised, “The harmony between oak, fruit and acidity makes a wine jam packed with intensity and ripeness.”

The Booths Gavi 2019 (8.75) also merited a Silver medal with judges commenting, “Prettily poised fragrant nose of peach blossom, white lily, honeycomb, almonds and ripe fleshy stone fruit.”

A Bronze medal was awarded for the Booths Rose Champagne Brut NV (£24.50) with judges calling the wine “Delicately refined with a lovely balance of ripe fruit and crisp acidity on the palate.”  Booths White Burgundy 2018 also won a Bronze medal, and at just £10, it remains excellent value, judges’ comments were, “Classic and characterful, softly structured. Subtle nose, riper lemon with minerality and well-integrated oak.
