The Chopping Block, Penrith

The Chopping Block, Penrith has been shortlisted for Best New Butchery of the Year in the 2020 Butcher of the Year Awards.

These nationally recognised awards honour those in butchery who are working to ensure the craft continues throughout our British high streets.

Chris Clough, Owner and Director of the Chopping Block, is immensely proud of what he and his team have achieved in the 15 months they’ve been trading, saying “It’s a cliché, but if you’d have told me what we’d be facing in our first year or so, I would’ve definitely paused a little longer before opening the doors last June. But I have been, and continue to be truly humbled by the support shown by our customers and the daily hard work from my incredible team.”

This year has seen all who work within the food & drink industry put under a huge amount of strain – despite this, a significant number of entries were made for the awards, with only a handful being shortlisted for the award ceremony due to be held in London early next year.

Chris adds, “Without the trust of our customers we wouldn’t be where we are today. We have our fingers crossed for the awards in February and of course it would be incredible to win, but to represent Penrith and Cumbria at the awards is privilege enough. As long our customers continue to love what we do, we’ll be chuffed.”

The Chopping Block continues to offer its popular home delivery service in the local area and are busy with their preparations for this year’s festive season. For more information you can visit their website.

Customers Comments:

“I LOVE the Chopping Block, everyone is super friendly, and now we’ve had meat from there for a few months, it has made us wonder how we ever put up with the rubbish sold in supermarkets. Second to none, highly recommended.” – Katy

“Excellent butchers with premium fresh meat and genuinely friendly, knowledgeable staff. AND great full English breakfast.” – Andy

“Last night for dinner we had your dry aged sirloin steak. Oh my god we were in heaven, one of the best tasting steaks we’ve ever had. Really a must try. Will be back for more.” – Chris

“A big shout out to these guys and girls, wow… I am so grateful for my delivery and as soon as I’m able I will be popping in, I can fully recommend them. Thank you again.” – Joy
