TEGkickstart, part of The Entrepreneurs Group, is hosting a free webinar on Thursday 10th December for anyone thinking of starting their own business.

TEGkickstart aims to help entrepreneurs, small business owners, young people, the unemployed or those affected by COVID, with the information and support they need to get started.

In Cumbria, the claimant count for Job Seekers Allowance or Universal Credit has risen from 2.3% to 4.6% since March, as a direct impact of COVID19. That’s 13,560 people out of work in September 2020 in Cumbria, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Unlike many other sessions, the TEGkickstart webinar on the 10th December goes right back to basics and shows aspiring entrepreneurs how to validate their business idea and build the foundations of a successful business.

Keith McMean

Keith McMean, Director at The Entrepreneurs Group said: “Validating a business idea is critical to success. If the idea is a bad one then entrepreneurs could spend precious time working on the wrong thing that may well not succeed in the marketplace. Only 61% of businesses keep trading past the first year, so getting the business idea right at the outset is crucial”

The FREE 1 hour “taster” webinar, will help those who have an idea for a business and don’t know where to start, or for people who haven’t even thought about starting a business, but think it could be something they could do in the future. Not only will the session cover idea validation, but the reality of running a business and a Q&A session with fellow Cumbrian business owners, including director of TEG Keith McMean and Business Consultant Peter Fleming.

Following on from the starter webinar, there will be a series of 1 hour online business master classes in the New Year, which cover all the elements that a start-up business could need including business validation, marketing, finance, and sales.

Keith added: “By helping people think about starting a business, we are giving them the tools to become more self-sufficient in the future, which also has a huge impact on the local economy and the creation of new employment opportunities.”

We know that people will end the session feeling more confident that they have a great business idea, with increased self-esteem and a motivation to succeed.

TEGkickstart is a virtual platform which gives small business owners, entrepreneurs or those dreaming about starting a business all the information and support they could require in one place, through an online accelerator learning programme. The course includes lifetime support, peer networking and guidance to help businesses start up and flourish and is open to anyone thinking about starting a business in any industry.
