Jenny Southern joins SMS Speedway

Carlisle commercial text-messaging firm SMS Speedway has appointed a new communications manager.

Jenny Southern, 22, of Wigton, joined the business earlier this month, providing PR, proofreading and social media expertise as the company continues to expand its list of apps and software systems.

Originally from Westhoughton near Wigan and a former health and social care student at Carlisle College, her remit is to improve client communications, as well as internal documentation.

She said: “We want to spread the message about our services and the way our apps can benefit companies, but we have to get that out in a way that people can understand.

“I feel that it is my job to give businesses a simple breakdown of what our apps can do and not have to rely on jargon and technical terminology to get that across.

“My background is actually in social care, and I think that helps when it comes to understanding and communicating clients’ needs.”

SMS Speedway, founded in 1994, was responsible for the world’s first commercial text messaging service, and now handles tens of millions of messages each year.

Among the features its apps can supply are automated messaging, enhanced reminders and notifications, face ID verification, and text to voice services.

Jenny comes into the team at a time when the company continues to expand, with plans to implement software that also integrates WhatsApp messaging from next month.

SMS Speedway CEO and founder Bradley Kieser said: “We’re so pleased to welcome Jenny to our growing team at SMS Speedway.

“As we continue to launch new apps and integrations, as well as developing new products and services, Jenny will be making sure our clients understand how we can help improve communications for businesses and their clients.”
