An engineering firm has officially opened a new facility in a West Cumbrian town.

DM Engineering’s new facility in Maryport town centre, marks a major milestone for the company, it said.

It was set up in January 2019 and the new facility follows the company’s strategic partnership with the Core Nuclear Group last year, which has provided vital support for this transformative phase of growth, it said.

The new site, now fully operational, is equipped with cutting-edge CNC machinery and offers the capacity to meet the growing demand across the nuclear and wider engineering sectors.

Darren Martin, managing director, said: “We’re thrilled to open the doors to our new facility.

“This move represents more than just a new building – it’s a statement of our long-term commitment to quality and our customers. Thanks to Core Nuclear, we’re better positioned than ever to deliver exceptional services.”

The partnership with Core Nuclear has already enabled over £500,000 of investment, not only in advanced machinery and facilities, but also in key systems across quality, finance, project management and reporting, the firm said.

John McGibbon, managing director of Core Nuclear Solutions, added: “DM Engineering is a key part of our group’s future and secures our supply chain for high quality machined and fabricated components, essential for our delivery into the nuclear sector in the UK and Europe.

“We are proud to be able to invest into the Cumbrian economy, bringing high skilled, sustainable employment to the area “.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Dianne Richardson, CEO of Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster.
