[C]arlisle based digital agency, Hydrant is opening it’s doors to anyone looking to find out more about what it’s like to work as a Web Developer.

An open day event on Wednesday, 13th September kick-starts the application process for the company’s year long apprenticeship programme, run once again in partnership with Happy Apprenticeships, a government backed apprenticeship scheme.

The Web Developer Open Day event will be held at Hydrant’s Market Street office in Carlisle and is aimed at anyone over 16 years old looking for a career in web development. The event will feature short talks from Hydrant staff and it’s London based parent company, Upbeat Productions.

Attendees will enjoy a buffet lunch while they meet staff and ask questions informally. Whilst it’s not essential to attend the event to apply for the apprenticeship scheme, the event will provide more details about the selection process and the experience of previous apprentices.

Anyone interested should check Hydrant.co.uk for more details.

Leo White

Founder Leo White said “Hydrant has always been committed to developing local talent and re-running our successful apprenticeship scheme is a key part of that. We wanted to start the whole process by letting as many people as possible experience the environment they could be working in, if they are successful.”

Hydrant’s previous apprenticeship scheme developed three apprentices over a year long paid course, combining practical hands-on experience with theory taught online and at face to face meetups as part of a larger group of apprentices from all over the UK.

“Not only has the apprenticeship scheme taught me the skills necessary to become a Junior Web Developer, it has increased my confidence working with colleagues and clients based all over the country” said former apprentice, winner of Drupal Apprentice of the year and now Hydrant Junior Web Developer, Alan Saunders.
