Peter Fox (judge), James Winter (judge), John Lord (vendor), Donna Thompson (Sponsor Eden farm); Jo Edwards (Sponsors PFK), Lianne Flemming (Bluefin Sponsor), Richard Little (referee Judge)

[O]n Tuesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their Annual Show and Sale of 9,000 North of England Mule Gimmer Lambs. This sale was once again generously sponsored by Eden Farm Supplies, PFK Land Agency & Bluefin.

All types of lamb were a straight trade throughout the sale, with prices much on par with last year’s sale. An overall average of £91.50 was achieved on the day.

It was a pleasing sight to see a number of first time buyers in the mart, as well as very many regulars from throughout the UK.

Topping the sale was the Champion pen from Messrs Lord, West Dowgill with ten outstanding strong lambs, achieving £340 purchased by Messrs Winter Bros, Clickham.

Messrs GA & DE Thompson, Howburn sold a phenomenal run of lambs with great skin and power throughout. This run averaged £115.82 for 120 sold, topping at £195 for the Reserve Champion pen, purchased by regular customer Mr A Geary.

A quality gathering of show pens were presented to this year’s judges Peter Fox of Clitheroe and James Winter of Clickham, with Richard Little, Low Moor Dyke being on standby as referee.

The following prizes were awarded.
