Howitzer Integration Plant (HIP) car park

THESE historic gates provide the finishing touch to a new £4m multi-storey car park at BAE Systems.

Around 60 years old, they were taken from the old Howitzer Integration Plant (HIP) car park on Farm Street and incorporated into the new design when the car park was completely refurbished and converted from one level to two.

The new car park has a capacity of 845 spaces, up from 470 previously.

The project forms part of the company’s wider parking strategy aimed at making it convenient for workers to park while minimising disruption to residents on Barrow Island.
