The first occupiers have moved in to a unique office complex in Carlisle.

The £1.3 million ModVillage at Kingmoor Park is a first of its kind for Cumbria and provides office space from recycled shipping containers.

NXT Recruitment has moved in and now occupies 1,080sq ft.

In total there is already over 6,200 sq ft on site most of which is now under offer with a further 3,400sq ft due to arrive.

The containers, made from Corten Steel, each weighing 6.5 tonnes, can be remodelled to a bespoke specification with external cladding, windows, doors, insulation, and internal fit out.

NXT Recruitment director Jason Hodgson said:  “We had been on the lookout for new premises that could accommodate our current and future growth plans but also something we could make our own.

“The ModVillage offices have made us more visible and will provide even better surroundings for our clients and candidates when we can finally meet them again.

“This last year has been a challenge for many businesses but we feel fortunate that we have continued to grow. I think it’s important to stay positive and moving into new premises has been a great motivator for us to keep pushing on. “

Kingmoor Park’s managing director, Neil McIntyre said: “The concept of ModVillage was to give local, ambitious companies a modern space that they could stamp their own identity on and use as a platform for further growth.

“NXT Recruitment are exactly the type of forward thinking, ambitious company we hoped the development would appeal to and it’s great to see how they’ve made it a truly unique and inspiring space for staff and clients alike.”

ModVillage has been designed by Prospus Group, which is also managing the project as it develops.

Prospus director, Alistair Fell added: “It is fantastic to be working with the team at Kingmoor Park to develop Cumbria’s first shipping container business village and we’re excited to see the development grow into the future.”
