A determined Cumbrian farmer is set to tell his story as part of a series of webinars hosted by a leading Cumbrian accountancy firm.

Will Case, of Ulverston, will be taking part in Armstrong Watson’s An Audience With webinar on April 28.

He will be sharing his story with host Andrew Robinson, head of agriculture.

NFU ambassador and father-of-three Will, has worked tirelessly to ensure his farm business can thrive, diversifying in to dairy and free-range hens alongside his livestock trade.

Will comes from a farming family steeped in 400 years of tradition.

He has worked alongside his brother and parents to successfully diversify their business into two viable farms. He will share how the family has made the best of what they have and how they have safeguarded the wider family’s livelihood for future generations.

Yorkshire cattle and sheep farmer Jim Beary, who writes for Farmers Guardian, will feature in the next webinar on March 24, and Annabel Hamilton, a young Borders farmer who has overseen the arable operations of large farm businesses, will talk about her more unusual diversification project on May 19.

Andrew said: “We’ve got three great names lined up for the spring. I’m really looking forward to discussing the broad range of farming practices that Jim, Will and Annabel employ at their farms in Yorkshire, south Cumbria and Berwickshire.

“I know they have some very interesting stories of family succession and also how they’ve overcome some of the difficulties of getting into farming.”

Will added: ”I’m looking forward to talking about family farming, succession and trying to make the most of what we’ve got. Hopefully it’s a good night.”

An Audience With… aims to help bolster future success in agriculture.

Running throughout 2021, it will feature industry experts and local farmers, who will discuss important issues in the world of farming and the ways they’ve been able to transform their businesses.

To date, the series has also featured Sally Urwin, author of Diary of a Pint-sized Farmer, and Tracey and Aylett Roan, of Roan’s Dairy in Dumfries and Galloway, who shared their experiences of how they diversified their businesses to ensure success.

There are also plans for An Audience With… Andrew himself.

Each webinar will take place between 7pm and 8pm and is free to join.
