Lake District-based Kin Vodka is supporting supermarket chain Booths with its charity cycle challenge this month.
From May 24 to May 28, staff from the retailer, fronted by chief operating officer Nigel Murray, will be taking part in the ‘Tour O’Booths’ fundraising challenge, which will see them cycle over 600km between all 27 Booths stores across the North of England.
The team will also visit two treatment centres to raise awareness and funds for Cure Leukaemia, The Blood Cancer Charity.
Kin Vodka, which supplies its award-winning Kin Toffee + Vodka as well as the new Toffee Apple + Vodka products to Booths stores, will be sponsoring the Lake District stage of the ride from Penrith in the North Lakes – via the Keswick and Windermere stores – to Ulverston in the South.
Owner, Judith Wren and the Kin Vodka team will be carrying out product tastings across all four stores before heading to Ulverston to welcome the team for the stage finish on Thursday May 27.
Judith said: “Booths are such great supporters of local suppliers that it’s nice to be able to give something back to them through sponsoring their fundraising efforts for such a good cause.
“The Lake District leg will certainly test their cycling prowess, but what more fitting reward when they reach the stage finish than a warming shot of toffee vodka, created just a few miles up the road at Newby Bridge.
“Booths have stocked Kin Vodka since 2016 and they’ve previously awarded us one of their Local Supplier of the Year accolades. We’ve established a strong relationship in that time, so it’s great to support them now.”
The challenging Lake District stage will see the cyclists cover over 90km with some tough initial climbs at Troutbeck and Thirlmere, before being rewarded with some stunning lake scenes at Grasmere, Rydal, and Windermere.
