To mark International Women’s Day last month, staff from Armstrong Watson’s Carlisle office spent March collecting items to donate to Family Action.
The team collected hygiene products, including sanitary towels, deodorant, show gel, nappies and soap for the charity to distribute to the women and families it supports and raise awareness of period poverty.
Family Action is a national charity that transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the country. In Cumbria, Family Action’s 0-19 Child and Family Support Service provides activities and specialist support for adults, children, and whole families, all tailored to meet individual needs.
Stefanie McKnight, Family Action’s volunteer and engagement worker, said: “The donations provided will really help the women and families that we work with. The cost of living is hitting everyone at present and we are trying to do everything we can to alleviate some of those pressures.”
Armstrong Watson culture champion and marketing co-ordinator, Georgie Collins, said: “To us, International Women’s Day is not just about raising the profile of women, but it is also about supporting all women within our communities.
“We were keen to do something that could help make life just that little bit easier for those struggling at the moment, and we’re all too well aware of the rising price of everyday goods, particularly those products we all rely on. We were thrilled by the number of donations we received from our Carlisle team and we are pleased that Family Action will be distributing them to local women and families in need.”
