A West Cumbrian-based property development company has achieved a trio of international standards accreditations.
Social impact developers BEC announced their success this week in achieving accreditations from the International Organisation for Standardisation in three areas: quality management, environment, and occupational health.
BEC’s chief executive Michael Pemberton said: “Achieving ISO accreditation has been our ambition for many years, and I am incredibly proud to share that we’ve successfully delivered our goal – affirming our commitment to effective quality, safety, and our environmental management.
“The certifications are a fantastic achievement for BEC, everyone has worked incredibly hard and there is a wonderful, shared sense of accomplishment across the team.
“This process and our respective accreditations are another enabler to strive ahead towards our 2030 objectives of becoming net-zero, doubling our property footprint and trebling our planned social impact to £6 million.”
BEC is behind developments such as Westlakes Science Park, The Bus Station in Whitehaven, Revive in Mirehouse and is developing the digital and gaming hub on Duke Street in Whitehaven town centre.
Sam Beardmore, head of operations at BEC, who led the process internally, said: “All of our colleagues here at BEC have engaged wholeheartedly in the ISO process over the last 12 months alongside our local Whitehaven-based consultant Angie Watson, of The ISO Specialists.
“The journey to accreditation involved reviewing and aligning all of our current processes to fit the required standards across all departments at BEC. These accreditations strength our relationships with both our supply chain, partners and tenants.
“Securing this trio of accreditations is testament to our commitment to continuous improvement and development as an organisation.”
