A Cumbrian playground manufacturer boss has scooped a prestigious award.
Playdale Playgrounds, based in Ulverston, has announced that Barry Leahey MBE, president of the company, has been named most innovative executive in manufacturing in the prestigious Manufacturing Supplier Innovation Awards UK 2025.
It’s an award that recognises exceptional leadership, forward-thinking strategy, and meaningful impact within the UK and European manufacturing landscape.
This recognition, determined by an independent Advisory Board, celebrates individuals who are redefining the future of manufacturing.
Barry was selected following a nomination that highlighted his turnaround of Playdale and his pivotal role in shaping innovation across the industry.
Since joining Playdale in 2004, Barry has led the business through a big evolution, positioning it as a market-leading force in the global playground equipment sector.
Under his leadership, Playdale has embraced cutting-edge design, sustainable manufacturing practices, and international growth, all while remaining proudly rooted in its Cumbrian heritage.
Barry’s strategic vision and ability to foster a culture of innovation have set Playdale apart in a highly competitive sector.
His achievements have previously been recognised with the Board of Trade Award (2019) and an MBE for services to UK Trade and Exports in 2017.
