The employee owners of a South Cumbrian firm have celebrated taking the reins of their business.
Poole Townsend, specialists in property, legal, and financial advice, joined hundreds of organisations across the UK to celebrating Employee Ownership Day – marking a major milestone in the company’s journey since transitioning to employee ownership.
Led by the Employee Ownership Association, EO Day is the annual celebration that spotlights a rapidly growing sector of UK businesses that give employees a meaningful stake and say in how their organisations are run.
With over 2,250 businesses now employee-owned, the model is increasingly recognised for fostering greater innovation, resilience, and long-term thinking.
Poole Townsend became an employee-owned business at the start of this year.

To mark the occasion, the company hosted a series of team celebrations across its five branches, uniting colleagues from across the region to reflect on their shared journey and future.
Stephanie Woodward, managing director: financial services, said: “Being employee-owned means our people are truly at the heart of everything we do.
“EO Day gives us the perfect opportunity to celebrate the changes we’ve made to support our commitment to providing exceptional service for our clients across our portfolio.
“Moving to employee ownership is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by our team.
“The change in structure ensures the future of the business is in the hands of those who know it best, our employees, safeguarding the values and culture that have made Poole Townsend a trusted name throughout the South Lakes and Furness.”
