A Kendal insurance brokers has been acquired by a North West firm.

Hayton Insurance Brokers has been sold to JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers North West, part of the JMG Group.

Hayton’s founder, Neil Hayton, will continue to drive the business forward and play a key role in future growth plans, the company said.

Kendal born and bred, Neil has 27 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with extensive knowledge of the regional market and a strong reputation for client service.

The acquisition is part of JMG Group’s strategy of attracting respected independent brokers, building businesses around outstanding people, and providing the support and infrastructure to flourish, it said,

The group’s investment in new premises in Kendal allows space for team expansion as the business plans to recruit additional experienced insurance professionals from across the region, it added.

Neil joins JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers North West’s 10-strong team.

He said: “There’s huge opportunity for us to grow in this region and I am excited to explore the potential along with my new colleagues.

“I was attracted to become part of JM Glendinning because of our shared values of delivering outstanding client service and, with the group-wide support, I am confident that clients will quickly see the added benefits of the move. I’m very excited about what we can achieve together.”

Matthew Stuttard, MD of JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers North West, added: “This acquisition shows our commitment to growing our presence in Cumbria and the Lake District.

“We’re ambitious and enthusiastic about the opportunity here and know that Neil is keen to help us realise our goals.

“We’ve already invested in new premises, where Hayton will now be based, which gives us the capacity to bring additional experienced colleagues into the business to help strengthen our proposition, and make us the broker and employer of choice in this area.”
