A former Carlisle bank has been transformed into a luxury business centre.
The Royal Bank of Scotland building on Lowther Street is around 200 years old but fell into disrepair after the bank closed in 2018.
Kieron Peacock, managing director of Carlisle-based Peacock Group, bought the building and has converted it into the centre.
After more than a year of renovation work, Peacock House is now open for local businesses to rent – with office spaces, hotdesks, and a boardroom to hire.
Kieron said: “This has been a true labour of love with no expense spared as my goal from the outset was to create Carlisle’s most luxurious business centre which local companies would be proud to use as their office base.
“Our work takes us to some of the UK’s major cities, and I’ve come across some amazing office spaces and I felt like there was nothing like this in Carlisle.
“The motivation behind Peacock House was to bring something high-end to the businesses in my home city.
“The building is a beautiful, wonderful place, full of history, and the challenge was to retain its rich architectural heritage while modernising the interior to make the space as comfortable and spacious as possible.
“Even though we’ve only just opened Peacock House, we have been inundated with bookings and requests and that proves to us that the city really wanted something as elite and premier as we’ve created.”
All 22 rooms have been brought back to life.
Kieron said: “We’ve laid new flooring, decorated each room and had the electrics rewired to ensure everything is top spec and of the highest quality. No stone has been left unturned.
“The Peacock team is extremely proud of the fantastic, luxury hub we have created. A buzz is already building among businesses, and we’re excited to bring local companies together so they can forge new relationships and hopefully create new work opportunities for one another.”
There’s even the Old Vault – a newly-refurbished function room with licensed bar and high-tech DJ equipment for private events, converted from the former bank’s vault.
Peacock Group is a collection of Cumbrian-based businesses founded by Kieron: Peacock Properties, Peacock Precision Services and Peacock Equipment Hire.
