A Kendal law firm has appointed a new head of family law.

Milne Moser Solicitors announced that Wendy Wharton has taken on the role.

She brings over 25 years of experience across all areas of matrimonial and family law.

Her appointment coincides with the firm securing a Legal Aid contract for family law.

Wendy’s expertise includes divorce, financial issues, complex cases involving children and matters involving domestic abuse. She also advises on pre-nuptial agreements, separation agreements and cohabitation matters.

Wendy is a Law Society Accredited Family Law member and an active member of Resolution, the professional body committed to constructive and where possible non court based resolution of family disputes. In her role as the firm’s Legal Aid Contract Holder for Family Law, Wendy will also oversee compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements.

Wendy said: “Family issues are often deeply personal and emotionally challenging, and my priority is to provide clients with clear practical advice and reassurance. I’m pleased the firm has been successful in gaining a Legal Aid contract for family law, which means we can now offer advice and representation to eligible clients who might otherwise struggle to access support at what is often a very difficult time. I bring a wealth of experience working with legal aid for many years, as such enriches my appointment here.”

Justine Allen, managing partner, added: “Wendy’s appointment is an important step for the firm.

“Her depth of experience in family law will strengthen the support available to clients, particularly those dealing with complex or sensitive family matters.

“Her leadership of the firm’s family law department and Legal Aid services will play a key role in ensuring that clients receive clear advice and consistent support at every stage.”
