Farming workshops will be held in the new year.
The Farmer Network is holding the events in January. with funding support from North Pennines National Landscape Farming in Protected Landscapes, to deliver the latest advice and information to local farming communities to help them prepare their farm business for the future.
The network is inviting East Fellside farmers to join them for a hot lunch and a chance to take part in some workshop sessions with local and national advisors.
The village hall-based lunches will take place at Castle Carrock on January 15, Brough on January 22 and Melmberby on January 29.
Lunch will be served at noon, followed by an information session for farmers.
Locally based teams from the Rural Payments Agency, Natural England and North Pennines FiPL will give short presentations and then be available for individual chats to farmers. Also in attendance will be the Woodland Trust and RSPB.
Further one-to-one support sessions are available from independent farm adviser Andy Dyer, local catchment sensitive farming officers and the Farmer Network team. The 50-minute sessions must be pre-booked, starting at 9.30am and available throughout each day.
Farmer Network project manager Kate Gascoyne said: “We have brought together a unique and outstanding team of advisors whose only goal at our three information days is to give farmers the best advice and support that they can.
“We can cover a huge range of topics including farm business support, schemes, using your RPA Portal, loans, succession planning, grants and soil and nutrient management plans. It will totally be the farmers call.”
Esme Jackson, project manager for the Farmer Network will also be attending the sessions. She added: “I would urge interested farmers to book their lunch and free one-to-one slot as soon as possible, and please make best use of the Farmer Network. All we need you to do is book on and turn up. We will take care of the rest.”
