Roger Jackson

The director of financial planning for a Cumbrian financial management company has been appointed as non-executive director of the Personal Finance Society.

Roger Jackson, who is Director of Financial Planning for Financial Management Bureau, will join the board of the PFS 18 months after he joined the board of its parent organisation, the Chartered Insurance Institute.

He was invited to take on the additional role last month to create a stronger connection between the two boards.

By serving across both boards, Roger hopes to support even closer collaboration between the organisations and to help ensure member interests remain firmly at the heart of strategic decision-making.

His practitioner-led approach will provide valuable member insight on the needs, expectations and challenges facing financial planning professionals.

The CII represents more than 120,000 members, with around 40,000 belonging to the PFS, which is the largest professional body for financial planners and personal finance professionals in the UK.

His new position offers the opportunity to help shape the future of the profession at a strategic level.

Roger says he sees the appointment as one of the most significant honours of his professional career.

He said: “I am delighted to have joined the PFS board and am looking forward to driving our wonderful profession forward alongside so many other talented individuals. I am immensely proud that stakeholders and members alike consider me a fitting appointment to both boards.

“The role will give FMB and the Westmorland & Furness region a national voice in financial planning. This will give staff and clients a direct line into the future of the profession and the opportunity to channel ideas straight to where it makes a difference.”

FMB has offices in Kendal and Cockermouth.

Managing director Liz Beavis said: “We could not be prouder of Roger and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will continue to make on behalf of our profession and its members.
