Cumbrian firms have won prestigious North West Family Business Awards.
Tech4, based in Carlisle, Ulverston’s Shed 1 Distillery and Cafe Ambio all won their categories at the event held last Friday in Liverpool.
Tech4 took home the Business Services award.
Judges praised Tech4 for its forward-thinking approach, ambition for future growth and clear family values. They also applauded its aspiration to involve the next generation in the business, while remaining true to the principles it was built on from day one.
Shed 1 Distillery won the Food and Drink Producers: Small Business title and Cafe Ambio, which has outlets in Whinlatter Forest, Lakeland Motor Museum, J36 and Grizedale Forest, won the Food and Drink Establishments category.
Managing director of Tech4, Paul Thorburn, said: “I’m immensely proud of the team and proud to be recognised for doing things the way we always have. What you see is what you get with us.
“After we made the shortlist and going into the interview process, we said we’d be completely honest and just be ourselves. If that wasn’t enough to win, then so be it. It really means a lot that the judges recognised the people, values and way of doing things that make Tech4 what it is.”
Founded in 2009 by father-and-son team Paul and Ryan Thorburn, Tech4 currently manages more than 1,500 office machines and provides solutions including copiers, printers, document management systems and visitor management technology
