Mark Telford, of Forth Engineering

A Cumbrian engineering firm has acquired a county family business.

Forth, which is headquartered at Flimby, near Maryport and has operational bases in Cleator Moor and Barrow, has completed the purchase of HallPack.

The Workington-based precision engineering firm, established in 2008, has been part of Forth’s supply chain for several years.

Mark Telford, managing director of Forth, said: “The acquisition process went very smoothly, and we are delighted to have completed a 100% buyout of all share capital and assets.

“Mike Hall has done a fantastic job over the years and it’s a privilege to be able to continue that work.

“The HallPack team is highly skilled and has built a reputation for delivering quality at competitive prices.

“Bringing their expertise into the Forth family means we are adding capabilities we did not previously have.

“Our focus is now on the future as we work to deliver our growing order book. We look forward to building on the HallPack value-for-money proposition as we invest in premises, technology, and people.”

Forth plans to refurbish and expand an unused space at its headquarters and relocate the HallPack team.

The new workshop will triple the operation’s production capacity, further boosted by CNC machines currently at Forth’s Barrow site, which will be relocated to Maryport.

This expansion is expected to create up to five new jobs.

Precision engineering is a specialised branch of engineering focused on designing, manufacturing, and maintaining components and systems with exceptionally tight tolerances and minimal margins for error.

It is a discipline where accuracy, consistency, and meticulous attention to detail are critical, ensuring that even the most complex and delicate machinery operates flawlessly.

Precision engineering is vital to industries ranging from aerospace and automotive to medical devices and telecommunications, where even the slightest deviation can impact performance or safety.

Mark added: “By integrating the skills and value proposition of the HallPack brand into the wider Forth ecosystem – where one of our mottos is ‘There’s always a way’ – I believe we have created something unique.

“In harnessing this and collaborating with the wider supply chain on appropriate projects, we now have a capability here in West Cumbria that can serve the UK – and beyond.
