A South Cumbrian housing provider has achieved national accreditation for its work in tenants and resident involvement.
South Lakes Housing has been accredited by Tpas, the national tenant engagement organisation.
The accreditation recognises the organisation’s commitment to tenant involvement.
Tpas is England’s leading tenant engagement expert, promoting and supporting tenant empowerment in social housing.
Pam Mastrantonio, chief executive at South Lakes Housing, said: “We are so proud to have achieved Tpas Accreditation.
“It recognises the hard work and commitment of colleagues and resident volunteers and shows how seriously we take listening to residents and involving them in decisions that shape our services.
“This is at the heart of our new business strategy, Your Home, Our Community, which sets out our commitment to working alongside residents to create great homes and thriving communities.
“The Tpas Accreditation process has challenged us with useful recommendations for improvement and has highlighted where we are doing things well.
“The opportunities to learn from others during this process were fantastic and we can learn a lot from the way other organisations do things.”
To receive the accreditation, staff and resident volunteers from South Lakes Housing underwent a process that included a self-assessment framework, reality checks, visits and interviews.
A Tpas Scrutiny Panel meeting was then held to decide if the required standards had been achieved.
Jenny Osbourne MBE, chief executive at Tpas, said: “We’re delighted that South Lakes Housing has successfully been accredited with Tpas.
“By completing the meticulous process to become an accredited housing organisation, South Lakes Housing has demonstrated their continuing commitment to the values we share.
“Tpas believe that involving tenants in all aspects of service delivery in the housing sector is not only the right thing to do but also makes great business sense.
“We look forward to sharing the stories of how South Lakes Housing has used the accreditation process to achieve success by working together with tenants.”
