A Cumbrian engineering firm has appointed two new people to its team.

Project engineer Liam Moffatt and commercial administrator Holly Maxwell, have joined Forth, which designs and manufactures world-first innovations across the engineering industry.

Martin Lewis, Forth’s commercial director, said: “We are always looking for the most talented recruits to join our already outstanding team, and we are always striving to improve what we provide to industries across the globe.

“We never stand still at Forth so the recruitment of the best people who can drive us on is a constant process.

“In Liam and Holly, we have two exceptionally talented workers who know the industry well and will help us develop the pioneering innovations we manufacture on a daily basis.”

Prior to joining Forth, Liam worked as a mechanical engineer at a local papermill for eight years before being attracted by the proposition to move to such an exciting company where he could develop his skills.

The role at Forth allows him the freedom to experiment and adapt traditional methods to find solutions to industry wide problems, and he has already been heavily involved in working on the Resurgam project to provide ground-breaking friction stir welding to repair the hulls of a ship and the Chimera II project which involves the robotic inspection of pressure vessels.

He said: “I am thrilled to be working for a company which carries out such significant, pioneering innovations across multiple industries and across the globe.

“The variety of the job is something which really appeals to me and you never get bored as there’s always something different which you can try to bring to the projects. Having the freedom to be creative and express myself in my work is so rewarding.”

Holly joined Forth with eight years of experience working in a similar role elsewhere in Cumbria.

Holly said: “A lot of the procurement purchasing process involves chasing orders and general admin, and I have a lot of experience in the field so I’m looking to create an improved list of approved suppliers at Forth to make the process smoother in the future.

“By pulling together a good list of suppliers who can be trusted and who we can go back to time and again will make everybody’s lives a lot easier, including mine!”
