Hawkshead Relish’s award winners

Lake District condiment creators Hawkshead Relish have continued their winning ways, collecting five new awards at the inaugural Farm Shop & Deli Show Product Awards.

The new awards have been specifically developed to recognise and reward the best in specialist food and drink products and were open only to products sold in farm shops, delis and other specialist food retailers.

Products submitted were judged across six categories, meat, condiments, bakery, beverages, confectionery and preserves, by panels of experts, which included the likes of broadcaster Nigel Barden, British Baker editor Amy North, MD of Brook Food Steve Wells, and food writer and author Jill Arthur.

Among the winning entries were four products from Hawkshead Relish’s new sauce collection, Smoky Black Garlic Ketchup, Hot Beetroot Ketchup, Posh Pickle Sauce and Smoky Mustard Sauce, which all collected silver awards, closely followed by a fifth, Spicy Mango Ketchup, which picked up a bronze award.

All of the award-winning products are crafted at the company’s Esthwaite site, where each product is made by hand in small batches, to carefully developed recipes devised, tried and tested by Hawkshead Relish’s team of recipe developers led by Mark Whitehead.

The newly released range sits alongside Relish’s existing sauce and ketchup collections, and is designed to help spice up home barbecues, fire pit cook outs, stews and soups and all manner of foodie feasts, serving up an array of vibrant colours and deliciously different flavours, which are guaranteed to add a bit of a lift to mealtimes.

Maria Whitehead, co-owner of Hawkshead Relish said: ‘’It’s always wonderful to receive good news, especially when it recognises the team’s hard work in creating a collection of standout products. It was great to be back at the Farm Shop & Deli Show after a two-year hiatus and what better way to celebrate its return than receiving five awards in the show’s inaugural product awards.’’
