Business law firm Baines Wilson has earned high praise for its excellence.

The firm, which has an office in Carlisle, has been named in the latest edition of the Legal 500, the prestigious annual guide to UK law firms and lawyers. Publishers carry out extensive research and thousands of client interviews to gauge the strengths of law firms and lawyers.

It again names two Baines Wilson lawyers – commercial property specialists Duncan Harty and Sean Logue – among only three leading individuals in their field across the whole of the North.

Duncan leads what the guide describes as a practical and commercially focused team that excels in commercial and residential development projects. As well as the highly regarded Sean Logue, fellow team member Stephanie Bradley earns a mention too.

Baines Wilson is in the highest tier in the North for corporate work, litigation and commercial property.

The corporate team is described as helpful, knowledgeable and patient and very cohesive and effective, with a strong commercial ethos able to ensure that transactions are navigated with as little stress as possible.

Head of department Andrew Hill is singled out as an exceptional partner, along with colleagues Jennifer Bell – who specialises in transport and logistics – and Kate Parker.

Baines Wilson’s employment team focuses on supporting employers with head of the team Joanne Holborn drawing on deep experience and having particular expertise in absence, rehabilitation and disability discrimination.

Her colleagues Caroline Rayner and Tom Scaife are cited too, the latter as a key practitioner with strengths in tribunal work and employment aspects of commercial transactions.

In litigation, Chris Clayton is recognised in delivering an exceptionally high level of client service.

Head of partnership, Sean Logue, said: “We are proud of all of our teams. Their continued recognition as one of the best in the region is a reflection of the exceptional work carried out firm-wide for our clients”.
