Business leaders will set out their vision for a sustainable future at a special event in Carlisle later this month.

Sustainable Cumbria will hear from the region’s trailblazers who are putting the environment at the heart of their businesses.

Organised by Carlisle-based Rachael Bell Wealth Management, the event is at Carlisle Racecourse on Tuesday, October 18.

Speakers include Emma Porter, of Story Contracting and co-founder of The Rebuild Site; glamping pioneer John Maddy, of Long Valley Yurts; Eddie Black from Annan-based solutions firm Eco Group; Toby McCartney, of Lockerbie-based MacRebur; and Gerald Smith, owner of Pentonbridge Inn and Netherby Hall, near Longtown.

Rachael Bell, practice principal of Rachael Bell Wealth Management, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to hear first hand from the innovators who are championing sustainability in their own industries and making a difference both in the county and beyond.

“By sharing their experiences and knowledge, we hope it will inspire others to take up the baton and move towards a more sustainable future.”

Sustainable Cumbria will focus on how firms can make a positive impact on society, the environment, and their own businesses and sectors, through prioritising environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors within their organisations.

The event, which takes place from 2.30pm to 6.30pm, is a panel Q&A, with opportunities for one-to-one informal conversations with individual speakers.

Hosted by Rachael and Abigail O’Brien, both from Rachael Bell Wealth Management, and James Higgins from PR and communications firm 32West, the programme of speakers also includes William Tuer from WST Rural; Lloyd Motors on electric vehicles and the future; and Darren Johnson from St. James’s Place Wealth Management on Responsible Investing.

Rachael added: “We have an incredible line-up of guests and speakers; people who are already making a real difference through their actions. The event promises to be inspiring and very thought provoking.”

Tickets for the event are limited. To book your place contact [email protected] or call 01228 526976.
