A Carlisle legal firm has taken to TikTok to encourage people to get a will.

Wragg Mark-Bell has produced a series of TikTok videos for its Lunchtime Legals scheme, which lets people get a simple will during their lunch break at a discounted price.

In the videos, solicitor Keith White and trainee solicitor Lauren Goad answer quickfire questions about wills and other legal matters. The firm aims to offer solutions to around 51,000 people in Carlisle who, according to research.

Questions in the videos are answered in under a minute and include how to get a will, what happens if you don’t have one, and how often you need to update your will – and there’s still more videos to come.

Keith said: “We wanted to make the answers and information accessible to more people, including the younger generation as it is not usually a priority for young adults. We wanted to reinforce the importance of getting a will and that it’s not just about dealing with property and finance matters. Wills are just as important to provide details as to personal wishes including what you want to happen to your pets.

@lunchtimelegals Your estate could automatically go to your spouse, children, parents or siblings, depending on your situation. If you want a say on who it goes to, make sure you get a will. #will #probate #probatelaw #lawyertiktok#lawyersoftiktok #lawyertok #legaladvice #solicitorsuk #carlisle #cumbria #lunchtimelegals ♬ original sound – Lunchtime Legals

“A will is necessary to ensure that what you want to happen to your house, property and finances actually happens. It is particularly important if you are unmarried as your property will not automatically pass to your partner on death so drafting your will is vital if you want any of your assets and property to be given to them.”

Throughout October, Wragg Mark-Bell are running their Lunchtime Legals event where people can book a 30-minute session during their lunch break to get a simple will written.

Senior director Nick Kennon said: “Wragg Mark-Bell is proud to be one of the first firms in the area to do something informative in this way on TikTok. The number of people without a will in the local area is high, and we wanted to help change that. This campaign is part of Wragg Mark-Bell’s continuing commitment to supporting local people, and as a Carlisle lad myself I understand the value of that.

“Having a will is so important no matter what age you are and this is a great way to reach more people while our Lunchtime Legals offer makes arranging a will as simple and good value for money as we possibly can. Give us 30 minutes of your lunch hour and we’ll do the rest.”
